During the initial consultation Dr. Hakky will perform a full clinical examination and discuss surgical interventions.
The patient will then undergo a nutritional examination during which an in-body analysis and anthropometric measurements will be made. Results will be used to decide the eligibility for bariatric surgery.
Following that, our clinical laboratory specialist will conduct all essential laboratory tests required before the surgery, which are also used for eligibility purposes.
Finally, if the patient qualifies for a bariatric intervention, our clinic manager will then schedule the pre-operative anesthesiology appointment and the date and time of the procedure and explain all necessary pre-operative preparations.

PS: The final decision regarding eligibility for bariatric surgery will be made by Dr. Hakky on a case-by-case basis after a consultation takes place and full clinical and nutritional examinations are conducted.
All surgeries take place at al Safa hospital in Mohandessin. Patients will be admitted an hour before the scheduled surgery time.
The assigned nurse will then come in for vital signs assessment and confirm all pre-operative instructions have been followed.
Afterwards, our anesthesiology consultant will then come in to administer the anesthesia.
The surgery lasts about 90 minutes (note that there are individual variations). This surgery is done under general anesthesia so the patient will then be taken from the operating room to the recovery room while the anesthetic wears off.
The patient will then be taken to his/her room and will be discharged on the first day postoperatively after being cleared by Dr. Hakky. During this time, Dr. Hakky will come in to explain and provide the patient with all documents needed to ensure a smooth post-operative journey.
This journey begins as soon as the patient is back to the hospital room until one-year post-operative.
It comprises of three phases:
Liquid Phase: 10-14 days (about 2 weeks)
Pureed Phase: 21-28 days (about 3 weeks)
Return to solids
Follow up visits with Dr. Hakky at the clinic will be at the following intervals:

Laboratory test results required before each follow-up appointment will be reviewed by Dr. Hakky. Finally, weight loss progress and post-operative dietary regimen will then be discussed with both Dr. Hakky and our Nutritionist.
